This Saturday March 6th My Daughters 4th grade class will be having a Fund raising Sale for their class’s Overnight field trip to Tombstone. I don’t know if you guys ever had a special school field trip when you were young but i did and it changed the way I saw history and fueled a love for it That I have to this day. It was just one of those experiences as a child that always stuck with me. So if you guys can make it out and donate or buy some simple items all proceeds go to Ms Rogers 4th grade field trip.

Islands Elementary (Parking lot)
245 South McQueen Road
Gilbert, AZ 85233
7AM to 1PM

Also Terry Tibke Author & Artist of the “Armageddon” Series of young adult books and Myself will be Sketching for donations for the Field trip, Please spread the word and score some cool stuff and help these kids experience the history and wonder of Tombstone.

Been Working on a lot of different stuff lately, little discombobulated bouncing from project to project since their all so different from one another. Been on a Big nostalgia kick as of late too, Picked up the Dukes of Hazzard seasons really cheap, i used to absolutely go nuts for that show as a kid, its fun silly stuff.

And good friends Terry Tibke and Kat Laraunge badgered me quite a bit this last year about watching SUPERNATURAL and thanks to my bud Bill I got a hold of seasons one through four…they were right, its freakin awesome and i love it. I even picked up the SUPERNATURAL RPG books, I collect RPG’s so it fed two addictions :).

KICK-ASS, got to see a special screening of it last night. Now if any of you know me you know i am very critical of Comic book movies, I think there is a fine line a Comic movie has to ride in order to be good. Comics are a completely different medium than motion pictures and thus a straight up translation usually fails to be entertaining let alone have the impact the book has in my opinion, and on the flip side if you change too much it becomes a whole other Intellectual property all together and to me taints the original source. Now KICK-ASS rode that fine line perfectly. The changes made only helped the characters and story from the book work a bit more smoothly and the ramped up humor offset the major Violence much like the disconnect to reality that comic book art naturally gives. And the Humor of this movie mixed with the over the top violence really created a unique thought provoking experience that s is very entertaining as well. Gotta thank Mike Malve and Atomic Comics for the invite, Julie and i had a blast!

Haven’t had a chance to open up for commissions in a while, I hope to do so in April sometime. Here’s some past Personal Sketch Card Commissions or “PSC’s” as is the vernacular. Let me know what you think.

Until next time folks.

First up today is the release of “Colt Noble and the Megalords” from writer/creator Tim Seeley and phenomenal new artist Mike Dimayuga. Both guys are good friends and tremendously talented comic professionals, I highly recommend you go out today grab a copy, specially if your an 80’s kid like me and remember those wonderfully awesome Saturday morning action cartoons.”Colt Noble and the Megalords” is a tongue in cheek homage to a particular 80’s cartoon/toy franchise, and it brings the awesome in a big way. I was lucky to be included in this book by providing a Pin-up of the Main villain Archfiend!

Currently i am working on the Comic “Zombies Versus Cheerleaders” from moonstone Publishing. the comic comes out of the wildly popular Zombies Versus Cheerleaders Card set from 5Finity productions. I produced a good amount of cards for that set and was fortunate enough to be invited onto the book. And i gotta tell you guys…Drawing goofy zombies is so freakin fun. below are the cards i did for the ZVC set.

Well hope you guys dig the ole art update, i gotta get back to work now, drop me a line let me know what you guys think.

With my Wife and Daughter out of state visiting family I dived into work to distract myself and i totally missed the whole new years celebration thing D’oh! Anyhow I feel rather accomplished with the amount of work I’ve got through this season and just when i thought it’d let up a little ….More gets piled on. Its all good though because i tried to schedule things for more commission time and art direction distractions *crosses fingers*

My Hero Initiative Wolverine: Weapon X 100 project cover is up on Ebay right now.*Please Bid* the 100 project is sponsored by Marvel and the HERO Initiative, it includes over 100 hand sketched original wolverine covers by Comic superstar artists (and schleps like me) with all proceeds from the book benefiting the HERO Initiative. The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. Since inception, the Hero Initiative has been fortunate enough to benefit over 40 creators and their families with over $400,000 worth of much-needed aid, fueled by your contributions! It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment. So please PLEASE bid! As an added bonus, I will also provide an original sketch card commission to the individual that wins my cover!

For all of you Sketch card collectors out there please bear with me, I have received close to a hundred of your emails recently, mostly pertaining to the various 5Finity sets I’ve contributed to (Dean Yeagle’s Mandy, Zombies Versus Cheerleaders and Moonstone maximum). I’ve tried to email you all back personally but its taking forever to do so. I apologize if I don’t get to email you personally. I am totally and completely buried in work at the moment and I will try to open up commissions and also sell return cards the second i can devote the time to do it properly. As it looks Mid to late January is looking very promising. Once I announce openings for commissions and post the sale for return cards it will be first come, first serve from that point. I greatly appreciate your understanding and patience. You guys are the ones that allow me to do what I love AND keep a roof over my head and for that I cant thank you enough.

Wow These past few months have been completely jam packed for me, work and work related events have made me their proverbial Bitch. I love art and doing what i do But sometimes i look up from my drawing table and Months have past me by. Of course even if I had a break I’d probably use the time to work on my own comic properties…cause dammit comics are fun. This week is going to be tough, I gotta juggle a crazy workload with quality family Christmas time. ahh I’ll sleep when I’m dead.

Oh jeez I’m getting behind on updates here huh? well heres the recap of the Wolverine 100 HERO Initiative party at Atomic Comics. It was freakin awesome. Got to hang with stellar artists and all very good friends as well. Tone Rodriguez being the only out-of-towner is still part of the local art family we have here, Only difference is that we make fun of LA more to bust his chops. Here is a few pics from the event…

What up guys,

Okay so Thanksgiving last week rocked, had a nice relaxing time at home with family and neighbors, worked on Sketch cards most of the time (odd to draw zombies all through thanksgiving) but I made sure to still be there with everybody and it was fun.

Went out Saturday to get some art supplies and X-mas shopping done and while driving home we unfortunately witnessed a huge four car crash-a-palooza, one flew some 70 feet hitting a few cars in front of us. Five feet from getting whacked ourselves. It was ugly. Having been in WAY to many accidents myself it didn’t phase me all that much but my poor wife and daughter were in shock. I along with many others helped get most of the people out of the flipped and badly wrecked vehicles, had to literally rip off some doors to get a few kids out. Then a guy who was on a motorcycle got all hot under the collar because he was “almost” hit, he tries to fight one of the drivers who we had to pry out of a wreck and was very badly injured… AND was a woman. Subduing that asshole till police arrived was a pain in the ass.

Sunday was my wife’s Birthday, I gave her a Popcorn machine, on a cart and everything. shes a popcorn fiend i tells ya. Good friends Bill And Shannon Bailey took us out to what is now one of our absolute favorite places “Down under Wines” small restaurant/wine store/ bistro kinda place run by two Australians who completely love wine and sharing it with others, seriously these guys made it an all out experience. Bill and I pigged out on kangaroo fillets, Crocodile pot-stickers and unfortunately they were out of Ostrich meat…they make some mean sliders with Ostrich there. Meanwhile the girls got wasted sampling some eight different wines, it was a fun night to say the least.

Don’t tell her I said this but my wife can only cook good during the holidays. She’s one of those cooks that are just too lazy to go get an ingredient they don’t have for a recipe so they just substitute it with crazy things they have at hand ….seriously who makes spaghetti with potatoes? And chicken Marsala with PBR instead of Marsala…actually that one wasn’t half bad. Anyway the pressure is on with holiday meals so she cooks with the actual called for ingredients and WOW its some good stuff. Turkey, sides, pies and various assortments of sweet sweet baked goods….sigh….its fat-guy heaven.

I used to manage retail stores for years and always worked through the holiday season so I missed most of the festivities, I thought being a full time artist would give me that time back, but turns out it’s always the busiest time of year for me.

Heyoooo

Wow, so much work on my plate right now, it looks very daunting but damn is this stuff going to be fun. Seems the holiday season is always the busiest for me, kinda reminds me of my retail days when the holidays meant WAY more work than normal ….ahh good times, don’t miss the goofy dress code though.

Okay so been working on writing/art chores for “Tin Star Tex” a lot lately building up a good volume of material and I’m very happy with it. Also Drawing a few Sketch card sets currently, having a blast with all of those, moonstone Maximum has some killer characters to draw the phantom, Zorro, Kolchak the list goes on and on, And Zombies versus cheerleaders…the title says it all. I hope to open up For commissions here in a week or two, for you folks who would like one for a holiday gift perhaps Please let me know soon as i will have limited slots open. (Jason H. your first on that list bud!)

speaking of Commissions here a few Personal sketch cards PSC’s from a while back, those wacky lanterns are getting popular and I love how these came out. hope ya dig ‘em.

Also just to remind you folks here in the AZ area there are some cool events coming up sponsored by the Phoenix Comicon, “Comic Create” event, Jeff Pina “Dr. Oblivion’s guide to teenage dating”, Albert Morales “El Mystico” and myself will kick off this series of events Which highlights the creative process behind making comics and pop culture art. This ones a bit different and very heavy on the creative aspects of Comic booking so stop by and have some questions ready for us.

heya guys back again a little late this week, Busy on lots of good stuff

Tucson Comic con Last Saturday Absolutely rocked! it was the definition of a true comic-con. Vendors, guests and Con-goers were super excited and loved being there and to me that alone makes it a huge success, it comes in second only to the Phoenix Comicon for me and i cant wait to make that Tucson trek next year.

Spazdog comics sponsored Terry Tibke and myself there at con and we both sketched for CBLDF donations which was a lot of fun and fulfilling, i love helping the industry that i love. Paul and Maureen took care of us really good on spazdog’s behalf. Across from us sat the evil genius Brian Pulido who was awesome enough to give me some promo images and buttons for “the Graves” which releases nationwide January 29th 2010 so be sure to check it out…and my ugly mug on screen for a few seconds Raven Gregory and Mike D. manned the zenescope booth, i don’t get to see those guys that often so it was cool catching up a bit. Jay Fotos was avoiding me again…naw Jay is awesome and a very busy man ( I’ll See ya at the Steel Panther show ya bastard:) Daniel and Dawna Davis were there in full on Steamcrow force, seeing those guys means its a real con! the elusive Daniel Bradford made it out and with awesome news that his book “King” will be out in January …such a fun and wickedly cool book. Anyway i digress because While down there in Tucson Good friend and big comic geek Thomas Healy Filmed a bit for his world famous podcast “I Have Issues” check it out!

Also next up on the ole event docket …Phoenix Comicon’s “Comic Create” event, Jeff Pina “Dr.

Till next time my wicked little jammers,
